A Heartfelt Message

Hey there again you lovely lot. I know it’s been a while, but the last few months have been hard for me. I have been dealing family issues; work Issues and a myriad of other issues all hitting me at once. This on top of the malaise I’ve been feeling due to loneliness and boredom, with life in general for a while now had taken me to some very dark places of recently.

Now please don’t think I am writing this to garner your sympathies. That is not what this post is for. I have been low before, and have always been fortunate, that I somehow always seem to find myself surrounded by some truly wonderful people, my family and friends, who give me the support I need, and sometimes the kick in the pants, they show an immense amount of understanding and an almost supernatural amount of patience. I love you all and am grateful to have you in my life, even if I don’t tell you as often as I should.

No the reason I am telling you this, is that I wanted you to understand the mindset I have been in lately, while at the same time having to watch the news. Now when I say I have to watch the news, I mean that where I work there is large screen showing CNN 24 hours a day, right in front of where I sit. There is a perfectly good reason for this, which I won’t go into. Now this is not a slight against CNN or any other proper news channel. You all provide an important service. No what I’m talking about is the content I have been seeing. The last 2 years have not been high points in humanity and things just seem to be getting worse. I know there has always been hatred and fear, of minorities, of foreigners, of women and of the LBGTQ community, but the last few years it seems to have gotten out of hand.

Now I know I rarely if ever write about my political views, (and trust me it has been super hard not to for the last 2 years), I mean my opinions on women’s rights should be obvious, to anyone who has read some of my previous posts. However I have generally kept away from discussing my views, from some combination of the idea that, who am I to discuss these big issues, and probably cowardice, fear about how people will react, will I be shunned or possibly attacked. Well life is far too short. So here are just some of my opinions of what is going on currently in the world;

  • Donald Trump is a lying simple-minded racist. He is stoking up the worst aspects of his supporters. Which has not only lead to one of his assholes sending pipe bombs to his critics, including a previous President of the United States, however also given comfort and courage to white supremacy groups, so much so that they feel comfortable enough to not only spew their evil poisonous rhetoric in public but also to attack people, we saw this in Charlottesville with the death of Heather Heyer, and we saw it again last week with the fatal shooting of Maurice Stallard and Vickie Jones, and then two days later with the attacks on Tree of Life Synagogue, leading to 11 deaths. These are a result of Trumps selfishness and pride. And lest we forgot selfishness and pride may also have led to possibly a sexual predator being appointed to the Supreme Court. Anyway I must move on, if I was to list all of Trumps faults and misdeeds I might run out of internet.
  • The incoming president of Brazil Jair Bolsonaro is also an asshole. He is a homophobic, misogynist creep with illusions towards dictatorship. Unlike Trump though Bolsonaro might actual achieve this.
  • The victory for the leave vote for Brexit is a result of an ignorant public being lied to by self serving politicians; I’m not saying that the remainers were anymore better informed. It was just that something this important should never have gone to the public. The whole reason we are in this mess is because David Cameron was scared of losing power due to UKIP and then was too shit to put his arguments forward in a way that were clear and coherent to the British public.
  • The murder of journalist and critic of Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Jamal Khashoggi is one of the most blatantly monstrous things we have seen for a while. The appalling details coming through show a very basic lack of respect not only for the media, but for human life itself. Added to this the fact that they may be giving women the right to drive, but have arrested and detained many of the activists that fought for that right, just goes to prove how much of a fake façade the perceived modernization of Saudi Arabia might be.
  • If you are one of the complete dickheads, (and please be aware I might have typed dickhead but I am thinking of a much much worse word), who protested women of menstruation age finally being allowed to enter the Sabarimala temple, and pelted the women trying to enter the temple with stones, because you think they are dirty, are you proud of yourself? do you fee all big and powerful?  Well because you are not, you are chicken shits and deserving of contempt. Also fuck you Rahul Gandhi, pick a damn side you can’t say you personal believe in equality for women, but will back your party’s decision to support a ban on women of a certain age entering this temple, because that just makes you a wanker playing both sides. If you take this along with the 13 year old girl that was beheaded earlier this week, while having caste slurs shouted at her, by a c**t she was accusing of sexual misconduct, as well as all the other sexual assaults  you have, then you really need to sort your fucking shit out India

That is a little of what has been preying on my mind, they might not be massive revelations, but I had to say it, and please don’t think that this post is all about me wanting to vent my anger, (and I have been angry), or that I want to make you feel depressed. I am just pointing all this out, because we can’t change anything without knowing what is wrong.

And things can change, but sitting around complaining about it won’t do anything, you have to go out and work at making the world you want, because trust me the complete shits of this world will go out to make the world they want, It has been happening in front of us.  Here are a few things you can do to help make this a better world.

Complain – Yes I know I said sitting around complaining won’t do anything, but it’s how you complain. Write letters/emails to your politicians. Join a protest, get together with like minded individuals and make some noise.

Vote – This is especially important this coming Tuesday for Americans, as the right results could help bring some stability and dare I say normality back to your country. But even if you are not American this coming Tuesday, your vote matters, so use it to make sure you represent, who you are and what you believe

Volunteer – There are probably hundreds of worthy organisations around you that could do with some enthusiastic volunteers, from reading to the elderly, feeding the homeless to helping with recycling. So look around, find something that calls to you, and try it.

Be compassionate – if all the rest of the options seem too hard, then just try and be there for someone. Look around in your own vicinity; see if anybody looks like they need a sympathetic ear, or a shoulder to cry on. They might tell you to get lost, or you might just be doing them a very important favour

Anyway hopefully I will return next time with something a lot more humorous and childish next time.
